Antique Bronze Bruce Bairnsfather 'Old Bill' Hood Ornament

Antique rare Bruce Bairnsfather 'Old Bill' Car Mascot set on a tiger oak redwood bowl. The original bronze car mascot has been added to make the centerpiece of a nut bowl. It simply lifts out as it is not permanently attached and has not been adjusted. Marked on the top rim of his Brodie helmet with the Bruce Bairnsfather signature Ole Bill is also marked with an S underneath his muffler , the word copyright and its registered number 669204 on either side of his face underneath this muffler. Dating to the years of the First world war and directly afterwards these radiator caps, car mascots or hood ornaments were collectable even at the time of manufacturing This was produced in 1919 by Messrs Louis Lejeune (Mascots) Ltd.

This would make a great birthday or housewarming gift or a great addition to any WW1 collection or cart mascot collection. Please note that the value is in the bronze hood ornament and not the bowl. I can ship with or without the bowl to keep costs down.

MEASUREMENTS

Bowl measure 9.5“ bowl diameter at widest part by 5" tall (9" tall to top of mascots head) and weighs 5lb 11oz. The actual mascot itself measures 11cm tall and weighs 2lb 1 oz.

CONDITION

In good working condition considering age and use. There is a small chip out of the edge of the base and the inside of the bowl has some damage to the woodwork with a small crack on the side (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
