Antique American Military Jacket & Hat ~ New York 22nd Foot Regiment

  • $ 85000

Antique Indian Wars period US military Hat and jacket dating to the 1890's. Made from melton cloth and wool the jacket has the rank of a corporal (double chevrons) on the sleeves, mostly red throughout with blue epaulettes and sleeve cuffs. It is lined heavily on the inside and the buttons are made by Boyle & son of New York. This was part of the uniform of the 22 regiment of Foot of the New York National Guard between 1895 and 1897 when chevrons were faced upwards from that point on military uniforms.

The hat is stylized in the French Kepi manner which intimates it is late Indian war period or just after (1895). Manufactured by the Ridabock firm of New York they ran this label from 1887 onwards. That places this cap in the latter part of the Indian Wars.

Stamped on inside hat label: Ridabock & Company 112 Fourth Ave 2 doors Below 12th St
Trademark New York

Buttons marked on Front : 22 Defendam NG NYS
Buttons marked on reverse: Boyle & New York

This would make a great addition to any Indian wars, New York or American military collection. This would make a great early holiday gift.
