Antique French silver coin from the reign of Louis the 16th. Dating from 1788 this large coin has been encased in a silver frame being used as the base of an antique cigar ashtray. The ashtray has a handle and a single lip for a cigar. It is decorated with a pinch effect all the way around and is deep enough to use as a key or a change dish.

Embossed on the obverse: LUD XVI DG FR ET NAV REX
Embossed on the reverse: SIT NOMEN DOMINI + BENEDICTUM 1788

This would make a great addition to any silver, novelty or coin collection. This would make a great early holiday gift.

MEASUREMENTS

Silver dish measures 4" long by 3.25" wide by 1.5" tall and weighs just under 3 oz.
