Vintage 9k Gold George VI Royal Horse Artillery Lapel Pin

Vintage military 9 karat gold artillery pin. Lapel pin badge made from 9 karat gold depicting the royal horse artillery regiment of King George VI of England known as the Kings troop. Made in the late 1940's or early 1950's for a member of the household guard this is beautifully detailed and a great addition to any military or gold badge collection.

After the Second World War, King George VI expressed the view that, following the mechanisation of the last batteries of horse-drawn artillery, a troop of horse artillery should be retained to take part in the great ceremonies of state. As a result the Riding Troop was reformed on 17 April 1946 at Shoeburyness as a six-gun Royal Horse Artillery battery for the Household Division.
