Victorian hand cranked fluting iron made by American Machine Co, Philadelphia, PA. These type of specialty irons were an essential appliance in the late 1800s as pleats and ruffles on collars, cuffs, and dresses were the fashion of the day. This American made cast iron fluting iron is pre1892. In 1892, North Bros. purchased American Machine Co. of Philadelphia.

This would make a great addition to any Victorian collection or home decor as a paper weight. This would make a great birthday gift.

MEASUREMENTS

Fluting iron plate measures 7" long by 4" wide by 1" tall and the fluter measures 4.5" long by 3.5" wide by 2.25" deep and weighs 3lb 14oz.

CONDITION

In good usable condition with signs of use commensurate with age. It would have originally had a hot plate slug you would heat in the oven and then put in the base (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
