Antique convertible metal candlestick. Outer candlesticks are made from pewter or other soft metal and consist of a concentric stepped base with a hinged detail allowing the stem to adjust 90 degrees two thirds of the way up. This feature may be as use for a handle or attach to a specific wall handle on a train.

The inner candle holder is made from a chromed harder metal which lifts out of the stand alone stem. This is more ornate and can only be held by hand. It has an ornate overspill guard and appears to accommodate a glass chimney as attested by the spring loaded pierced fretwork top.

An unusual pair of candlesticks with no markings whatsoever but have all the appearance of continental workmanship dating from the late 19th century.
