1872 Vanity Fair Print No. 177 - "Statesmen No.109 "A Home Ruler""
Framed hand-colored lithograph print of the MP Mr John Francis Maguire entitled "Statesmen No.109 "A Home Ruler"," . This rare chromolithograph was published in Vanity Fair 23 March 1872 edition and is numbered 177. Home Rule was suggested for Ireland rather than having to defer to the London for political decisions. This was in effect transferring power and viewed as many as signing away authority from the crown, a dangerous suggestion as Britain had controlled Ireland and its resources as a vassal state since the 17th century.
A great rare antique print that is ready to hang complete with a description of the print and its depictions on the back.
Lithograph measures 14.5" long by 9.5" tall by 0.5" deep and weighs 1lb 5oz.
In good condition considering age - please see all pictures as they form part of the description.
