Art Deco Rutting Goats Sculpture on Marble Plinth by Irenee Rochard
Antique art deco sculpture of a pair of playful goats in a rut called "Kid Goats in Combat" by Irenee Rochard. Superbly cast goat statue in spelter which is bronzed, it shows amazing anatomical details of both animals. They appear to be young billy goats as they have only buds rather than fully grown horns. They are separately mounted to a heavy slab of black marble. This goat statue acquisition from a trip to London and are most likely English or French in origin. I cannot find a mark anywhere on either animal for either foundry or sculptor. This piece dates to the 1910s or early 1920s.
A great decorative arts addition to any living room, Art Deco sculpture or goat statue collection.
