Antique Temperance RBP Ceremonial Regalia Sash with Pins
Antique anti alcohol temperance movement Royal Black Preceptory ceremonial sash with 22 zorak silver pins. The Royal Black is protestant fraternal organization with varying degree of which this sash is the scarlet second degree. It was formed in Ireland in 1797, two years after the formation of the Orange Order in Daniel Winter's cottage, Loughgall, County Armagh.
The society is formed from Orangemen and can be seen as a progression of that Order although they are separate institutions. Anyone wishing to be admitted to the Royal Black Institution must first become a member of an Orange Order Lodge, and many are members of both.
The Royal Black is often referred to as "the senior of the loyal orders."
Crucifix, scales, Sythe and rake, Star, Moon, 2 horns, sheep, shephard, RBP No 40, G in a compass and l ruler, skull, 2 cross bones, the left hand, ladder 2 cross swords, a tree, a chalice, a candelabra, coffin, riverboat, a ladder and a snake wrapped around a pole.
Item measures 43“ long (each side) by 5“ wide by “ deep and weighs 8.2oz
