Vintage Pair of Pewter Asco Greek God Statues
Vintage Pair of Pewter figurines by Asco of what appear to be Greek Gods representing commerce and industry. These are made from a spelter material which was popular at the turn of the last century. They appear to be Edwardian in origin depicting the might of the British Empire. Industrial progression as led by the female figure is intimated by her holding aloft a laurel crown surrounding a hammer with her other hand on the anvil and the cogs of industry at her feet.. The male figure depicts Maritime and medical progression as he holds a baton depicting the medical profession with his other hand steering the way to the future of commerce.
Both pewter figures stand on wooden plinths.
