Vintage Signed Depression WPA Era Color Lithograph Image 1940 Storm H D Robbins

  • $ 23500

DESCRIPTION

Vintage signed abstract color lithograph print. Dated for 1940 and titled " Storm" this original piece by artist H D Robbins. Typical in both style and image of the Depression era this image depicts a man in cap hunched over making his way through a storm. The olive drab green encompassing the man is the storm which depicts the dark humor of the Depression era and was a favorite theme of the WPA artists. The anguish on his face and the angle of his body encompass the struggle of the working man who often travelled alone throughout the country looking for work. The industrial factory background intimates that this is a working man along with his clothing and stark looking face.

Marked below: Storm Ed 29 h D Robbins 1940

A great addition to your WPA or Depression era art collection. A great yet harrowing image which encapsulates the mood of the period.

CONDITION

This print is in pretty good condition considering age. There are some chips to the paintwork on the frame. The print itself has some foxing around the border area.
