Vintage WW2 1940s Smiths RAF Bakelite Cover Wall Clock Type 2 12" Dial
DESCRIPTION
Vintage Bakelite cased 1940s Smith RAF mess hall clock. Vintage WW2 era type 2 wall clock featuring an RAF emblem painted 12" dial with roman numeral indicators, spade and pointer hands and a winding key. The crown above the RAF monogram indicates that this was government or crown property. The clock is in working order which is expected of Smiths clocks made during WW2. The back of the wooden casing is marked in several paces with 218/118, the production year of 1943 and a GRV under a crown mark.

Face Marked by hand: R 13 MU (which refers to 13 Maintenance Unit which was located at RAF Henlow in Bedfordshire) and No 415 (which most likely refers to the repair number

MEASUREMENTS
Clock measures 12" dial, back measures 9.5" by 9", front measures 14.5" diameter by 3.5" deep and weighs 6lb 9oz.
CONDITION
In good working condition, considering the age and use of this piece. The face has endured some chipping to the paintwork and it looks like attemps to paint over these areas have been made. There is a small section of ink writing under the center of the face where the hands meet (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
