Whimsical Art Oil Painting of French Village Scene by Charles de Montfort (1901-?)
Vintage whimsical art French watercolor painting / gouache painting on board by Charles de Montfort. This beautiful oil painting is of a provincial town street scene. Primitive & naive art style, it illustrates six figures being mainly women in flitting across the street. Whimsical in its brush strokes would suggest that it was a painted in situ quite quickly.
The style of the ladies hair and the gentlemen hats suggest perhaps the late 1960's /early 1970's in date.
