The WCTU was the first mass organization by women devoted to social reform.

The WCTU was originally organized on December 23, 1873, in Hillsboro, Ohio, and officially declared at a national convention in Cleveland, Ohio in 1874

It operated at an international level and in the context of religion and reform, including missionary work as well as matters of social reform such as suffrage.

WCTU members chose total abstinence from all alcohol as their life style and they adopted this definition of temperance:

... moderation in all things healthful; total abstinence from all things

A great addition to your military collection or man cave decor decor. This would make a great unique gift for a birthday or house warming gift.
