  • $ 77500

DESCRIPTION

Antique three tiered tramp art sweetheart jewelry casket. Dating to the late 19th century this sarcophagus shaped trinket box is intricately inlaid with various shapes and woods. This was most likely made for a sweetheart by her suitor as an example of his ability. The inlay depicts cupid falling which may intimate his affections for the intended recipient of this box. The casket opens both on top and in the middle to reveal velvet compartments. The middle section also has a lift out section which reveals a larger compartment underneath and the handle to the secret drawer on the front. Once this is pulled out the front ledge springs out to reveal a secret compartments for billet douxs or notes of affection.

This would make a great addition to any vintage lady's accessories, Victorian or wooden tramp art collection. This would make a great late Valentines day gift.
