Antique Ceremonial Ecclesiastical Scepter for High Church of England

  • $ 30000

Vintage ecclesiastical ceremonial scepter. Used by the clergy of the high church of England this brass and wooden scepter was carried in processions by a bishop or other high ranking member of the clergy. The main body is constructed from wood painted white with a sliding ornate ferrule. Both the top and bottom brass orbs are decorated with the red rose of England, the Irish harp, the Scottish thistle and the French fleur de Lys on each quadrant. This is topped by a painted white dove on a bras high or Maltese cross. Dating to the 1920's/30's this brass and wood ceremonial gauge represented the princely association of the church which mimicked the royal scepters carried by Kings during a coronation.

A perfect addition to your eclectic home decor or a fabulous gift idea. This would make a great addition to any scepter or religious collection.
