Antique pair of French bronze chenets. Oxidized bronze figural sculptures of cherubs reading in the form of fireplace chenets. Both bronze sculptures are constructed from several individual pieces as expected from higher quality decorative 19th C French art and both rest on their own individual serpentine plinths. These date to the later half of the 19th century with an aesthetic quality in both style and form found in quality French foundries of the period.

MEASUREMENTS

Chenets measure 14" long by 6" wide by 13.25" tall (stands measure 15.75" by 6.25" wide by 1" tall and altogether weigh 20lb

CONDITION

In generally good condition considering age and use. The bronze has oxidized as is evident from the photos and they are missing their cross bar at the back - please see all pictures as they form part of the description.
