Antique Majolica Ware WS&S William Schiller & Sons

Antique Majolica center piece by Wilhelm Schiller & sons. Manufactured in Bohemia between 1885 when the company formed and 1914 when the company dissolved. This centerpiece bowl comprising of mainly muted blues, yellows and aquamarine depicts peacocks and flowers on either side in relief form. The flowing handles interlace in through the form in a typical Jugendstil style as was popular in Germanic speaking regions during the late 19th and early 20th century.

Marked on base within a raised cartouche: WS&S
Impressed into base: 12769

This would make a great birthday gift, housewarming gift or an addition to the collection of art pottery pieces.

MEASUREMENTS

Centerpiece measures 12" long by 6" wide by 6.25" tall and weighs 3lb 2oz.

CONDITION

In nice condition considering age and use. Some small chipping to the glaze around the edges. There is a firing fracture on one handle that feeds through to the inside of the piece - it is photographed (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
