Antique Sioux Indian Native American Knife & Sheath Hoop Steel Paul Two Face

DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th C Sioux Native American Indian warriors sheath knife. Manufactured from the rim of a wagon known as hoop steel this original knife was made in the 1870'd . The tang runs all the way into the handle which is most likely wooden with sewn leather covering. It is held in place by three metal pins, one of which is missing its head on either side. Both the knife and the sheath are primitively made and date from the mid to late 19th C period.

Etched into the leather sheath is: Paul White Face Bolly roo??
Reverse side : Panama California & a Native American good luck symbol

This would make a great addition to your rare knife or 19th C Native American collection.

MEASUREMENTS

Knife measures 11" long by blade is 2" wide at widest point by 6.15" long and weighs 14oz.
In its sheath it measures 13" by 3.75".

CONDITION

This knife is in good condition considering age. There are some staining and signs of use on the leather handle and sheath. The sheath has some cracking and several words etched into the leather. (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
