Original three volume hardcover set of a limited edition number of 750 published in 1925 by Constable & co of London. This is a first limited edition of facsimiles of the original first editions of the Robinson Crusoe.

The first Robinson Crusoe story was originally published anonymously in 1719 which tells the story of a castaway who spends thirty years on a tropical island, encountering cannibals, mutineers, and other perils. The two subsequent works continue his adventures, and were written following the first work's astonishing success. The Robinson Crusoe stories taken as a whole are one of the most popular fictional works in Western literature.

This edition was printed verbatim from copies of the first editions. The illustrations in the first two volumes by Stothard (Adventures & Further Adventures) are taken from the popular edition of 1790 by Stockdale. Beautifully bound with marbled covers and decorative gold lettering on the spine.

Books measures 6" wide by 9.25" tall by 1" thick and together weigh 5lb 1oz.

CONDITION

In solid condition with some splitting of the leather on the spine seam and rubbing to the leather (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
