Antique French Louis XV Style 19th C metal & porcelain Sevres style mantel clock. Very ornate ormolu mantel clock decorated with swag, gadroons, cherubs and mythical birds on the main frame with acanthus splayed feet. Deftly decorated with Sevres like painted porcelain on the face and urn with floral decor, the main porcelain panel depict s a courting couple in a garden backdrop. This is the height of French opulence which would grace any mantel not only as as aesthetic decoration but also as a working timepiece.

The clock is complete with pendulum, bell and key.

Marked inside back on movement: Medaille D'Argent 1855 Vicente & Cie, 411 552
Marked on bottom of clock: Charles
Label on base: Made in France

The date refers to the date Vicente & Cie were awarded a silver medal of excellence by the Expo Universelle in Paris which dates the clock between 1855 and 1870 when production ceased under Roux control.

MEASUREMENTS

Clock measures 14.5" tall by 7" wide by 5.75" deep and weighs 8lbs.

CONDITION

In good condition with some loss of plating throughout. Winds up easily and strikes on the hour, it could do with a service as it is running a little fast. No cracks or damage to any of the porcelain - please see all pictures as they form part of the description.
