Japanese Shakudo Meiji Era Letter Opener

  • $ 22000

Vintage Japanese Shakudo letter opener made from bronze. Late Meiji period in date (1868 -1912) this beautifully ornate letter opener was crafted with great skill and detail. The handle is ornately decorated with a series of tortoises/turtles in various poses with certain features highlighted in gold. The blade depicts a crane atop of bamboo and foliage on one side and what appears to be a stamp and signature on the other.
