Antique Civil War Era Brass Strike Plate & Door Knobs -The Union Yale & Town

DESCRIPTION

Antique pair of door knobs and civil war era strike plate. The ornate brass door knobs are adorned with the interconnecting M and O apparently representing the Morning Oregon building this piece came from. The superbly cast backplate celebrating the Union is adorned with images of the union shield with covered wagon, sailing vessels animal life and topped with an American eagle clasping arrows and laurel wreaths. Manufactured by Yale and Town it is clearly marked on the reverse along with its cast number of 422 which fitted a right hand side door.

Both the backplate and door knobs are made from brass and are in original uncleaned condition. A great addition to your hardware collection or to accentuate any Victorian civil war era property.

MEASUREMENTS

Item measures 2.5“ wide by 11.5“ long . The two door knobs with spindle measure 7.5" long with a 2.5" diameter and both items together weigh 2lb.

CONDITION

In good used condition with signs of use commensurate with age with a slight bend in the center which straightens out when applied to a flat surface (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
