Vintage Fisher Girl Painting - Reva from The Ladies Journal

  • $ 17500

Original gouache sketch signed Reva of the Oct 1907 cover of The Ladies Journal. This was a preparatory sketch with perhaps the name of the model who posed or someone who worked in the workshop. Classic magazine cover original sketch of an American beauty in a fashionable hat and bow.

Vintage original gouache painting on heavy paper of a Fisher model. At one time, Harrison Fisher’s ‘Fisher Girl’ was as well known as ‘The Gibson Girl’. Fisher made a name for himself in the history of American illustration due to his uncanny ability to paint beautiful women. His ‘Fisher Girl’ and, more importantly, his ‘American Girl’ were recognized as the epitome of feminine beauty in America during the first quarter of the 20th century. She was lithe, elegant and beautiful, but also athletic, independent, and intelligent.

This original artwork along with several others were purchased from an estate outside San Francisco several years ago, some of which were signed and some with partial notes of the model.

This antique gouache painting is a great addition to your Victorian home decor or fashion salon and would make a great birthday gift or a housewarming gift.
