Vintage Japanese Shakudo letter opener made from brass plated copper. Late Meiji period in date (1868 -1912) this beautifully ornate letter opener was crafted with great skill and detail. The handle is ornately decorated in high relief with theatrical characters on one side and foliage with different overlays on the other. The blade depicts a swallow over a fruit tree on one side and what appears to be a grass stem on the other.

This would make a fabulous birthday gift, housewarming gift holiday gift or for any Japanese metal enthusiasts.

Opener measures: 11" long by 1 wide and weighs 2.4oz.
