DESCRIPTION

Vintage large head sculpture in bronze. Patinated bronze sculpture of a mans head with a beard which resembles Jesus Christ in a raw and straight forward manner. There are brutalist elements about the sculpture in the roughly hewn angles of the face along with the minimalist lines of the hair and beard which allow the bronze metal to further define the features. This bronze somewhat resembles the death mask of Jesus apparently encapsulated in the shroud of Turin. There is a signature on the reverse which is somewhat indistinct and may be JEN, not sure what date this can be attributed to but perhaps the 1950's or 60's when this style first gained popularity.
