Vintage Law of the Tombstone Film Scene Sketch

  • $ 97500

Vintage movie memorabilia. Western Americana vintage scene sketch from the 1938 film Law West of Tombstone starring Harry Carey and Tim Holt. This original charcoal sketch on board was produced by Al Pyke as one of the interiors of the Texas Rose Bar. It is signed by the artist on the bottom right hand corner in the picture. The context of this art piece is a very crowded busy bar scene and a gambling table on the left of the picture. A great depiction of what a western 1880's type bar would have looked like on the frontier at the time.

Al Pyke was one of the main set designers for RKO and the movie industry of the period. This predates the movie so it was produced in 1938 at the latest.

The film is about A Judge Roy Bean figure dispenses justice in Arizona. He teams up with the Tonto Kid to fight the McQuinn gang. It was produced by Cliff Reid and directed by Glenn Tryon.

A great addition to your film memorabilia or western Americana collection, this would make a great unique housewarming gift.
