Antique Temperance Ceremonial Sash Regalia

DESCRIPTION

Antique temperance movement Sons of Temperance regalia lot including the ceremonial sash & other items belonging to James Farrell Jr who was an officer in the Sons of Temperance society of North America.

Born in Fermanagh in Ireland in 1848 he died in Trenton, New Jersey in 1924.

The box consists of a Rosette with gold tassels which attaches onto the sash, a crushed purple sash with gold trim and celluloid badge on a silk ribbon. The anti alcohol ribbon has two flags sewn into them, the US and the UK and a metal medallion with the address and dates of the National convention. The main medal is made of metal and celluloid by the Sommer Badge manufacturing co of Newark, NJ. The tie bar is also metal and celluloid. A great ensemble from an early Sons of Temperance national division. There is also a copy of the owner wearing the items.

MEASUREMENTS

Medal & Ribbon measures 6.5“ long by 3“ wide.
Rosette measures 4.25" in diameter and 10.5" with gold tassels.
Velvet and gold trim sash measures 22" long by 7" at its widest by 2" at its narrowest point. The whole ensemble weighs 13oz.
