DESCRIPTION

Vintage 1940's yellow ladies vintage swimsuit made by Catalina, a California creator. Styled for the Stars of Hollywood this all in one retro bathing suit was the chic and trendy style as often portrayed in Vargas images and the pin up model bombshells of the period.

This would make a great display item for a retro fashion show or could still be used as a swimsuit today.

Catalina Sportswear was founded in 1928 by Edgar W. Stewart. The company was located in Los Angeles, and they used their location near Hollywood as part of their glamorous image.

In the 1940s they hired several of Hollywood's most famous designers to work on designs for them. These included Orry Kelly, Edith Head and Travis Banton. The head designer at Catalina was Mary Ann DeWeese, who left during the 1960s to form her own company, DeWeese Designs.

MEASUREMENTS

Vintage swimsuit size is a 34 which would suit someone between 115 lbs and 125lbs according to the label.

CONDITION

This retro bathing suit is in great wearable condition with zipper moving freely (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
