Vintage signed original straight grained Selected Lane Era Charatans briar pipe. As usual with all high quality English pipes, this one is made with a beautiful black curved lucite stem. The nomenclature "Charatan's make" refers to this method of production and was meant to differ Charatan from other brands who "assembled" pipes from pre-drilled bowls and delivered mouthpieces. Signed on the bowl and stem this would make a great addition to any pipe collection or fun aesthetic decorative art. The Lane Trademark serif and circled L indicates the pipe is from the “Lane Era” (approx. 1955 to 1979), generally when the pipe is stamped with the BLOCK letters “MADE BY HAND” it means the pipe was probably made between 1958 and 1965.

MEASUREMENTS

The bowl measures just over 2" tall by just under 2" wide.
The stem measures 3.25" which gives an overall length of 7" and weighs under 3oz.
