Vintage Sterling Silver Temperance Order of Rechabites IOR Medal Display

  • $ 20000

Vintage Temperance Order of Rechabites IOR sterling silver medals. Sterling silver marked and enamel medals with original ribbons and bars presented to exalted brothers of the Independent Order of Rechabites of Salford Unity in England.

The IOR also known as the Sons and Daughters of Rechab is a friendly society founded in England in 1835 as part of the wider British temperance movement to promote total abstinence from alcoholic beverages.

Two of the medals are marked with a personal inscription for the receiver of the medal. One medal is dedicated in 1946 and the other in 1901 but I believe this is an error inscription as it is hallmarked 1928 so most likely was for 1931.

All three medals are hallmarked sterling (lion passant), Birmingham assay city mark (anchor), and date letters D (1928) and R on the other 2 (for 1941). Each of the ribbon pins are decorated with archaic dolphins and marked silver on the back.

A fabulous addition to any IOR , temperance or prohibition collection. This would make a great early holiday gift idea.
