Antique religious WCTU state convention ribbon. Depicting Francis Willard this silk ribbon was issued in 1892 for the state convention that was taking place in San Bernardino county in Southern California. A pioneer in the temperance movement, Frances Elizabeth Caroline Willard is also remembered for her contributions to women's higher education and suffrage. This 4 day convention in October was held for members to promote their prohibition message that abstinence from alcohol was a devotion that God deemed to healthy for the home and the native land which was very patriotic.
