Antique heavy bronze mortar and pestle. Vintage two handle alchemy mortar original bronze cast by Henryck Ter Horst in 1638. It is inscribed around the side with the makers name and the year in latin. This early Netherlands cast mortar is a decorative compendium of late renaissance early baroque motifs which depict stylized leaves, cornucopia, baskets and winged putti . This is a great practical as well as functional item for the modern or classical kitchen.
