Antique 1900s Asian Opera Puppet Doll
Antique Asian opera doll. Dressed in an ornate coat trimmed to simulate ermine and jewels on a Kings robe this regal puppet doll has the countenance of a fierce warrior. His green face sets off his long grey beard against an ornate and imposing hat and gown. His hands and feet are very simply constructed from wood but the rest of him is very ornate and I believe his face is made from a paper mache composite. I believe he dates from between the 1900's and 1930's.
This came from the estate of an orchestra conductor in Los Angeles, CA.
This would make a great birthday gift, housewarming gift or as an addition to any creepy doll collection.
Fu Manchu style doll measures 21" tall by 7" wide and weighs 13.4oz.
In good condition considering age and use. There are some parts of the decoration of the gown which have come away over time (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
