DESCRIPTION

Antique late 19th century Grand Tour classical bronze sculpture of a dancing Satyr or faun with cymbals. Sculpted after Isaak Du Chemins bronze from the original marble figure in the Tribuna gallery in the Uffizi, Florence by Massimiliano Soldani (Italian, 1656-1740).

This dancing faun rests one foot on a set of bellows whilst holding cymbals in his hands. He whimsically dances in the forest of delight in all his naked splendor, displaying his muscular frame. His thick curly hair which hides his horns and pointed ears which has an Adonis like countenance to it. He is attached to a patinated bronze base via two nuts and bolts.

This would be a great addition to any bronze , classical sculpture or Roman collection for a desk or a library.

Sculpture measures 10.5" tall by 6 wide by 4" deep and weighs 3lb.
