Antique African Gabon Punu Tribal Wooden Mask
Antique African Punu tribal mask from Gabon. This style of African mask captures what is considered a beautiful female face by Gabon’s Punu tribe. Typical features of a Punu mask are hair pulled up high on top of the head, oval carved eyes reminiscent of an Asian woman and sometimes painted white to represent the spirits of long-dead ancestors. Made from hardwood this antique mask was acquired from an African gentlemans estate in Puerto Rico about 10 years ago.
A great wall hanger which would suit any living room or office. This would make a great birthday or housewarming gift for any tribal enthusiast.
Antique wooden mask measures 14" long by 10" wide by 5" deep and weighs 2lb 9oz.
In good condition considering age and use. There has been an earlier repair on the tip of decorative accessory over the right hand ear (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
