Antique heavy cast iron and wood sad iron. Vintage primitive home decor mad in the 19th century in the dutch town Vriezenveen, Netherlands by the Elferink & Laroy mfg company. Hot coals were placed into the open sad iron which could then be pressed directly onto clothing as this method eliminated soot on the base.

This would be best used as a display item, a paperweight or a doorstop.

The antique iron measures 9" long by 4.5" wide by 7.75" tall and weighs 8lb 1oz.

CONDITION

In good used condition with some signs of use commensurate with age, some surface rust (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
