Antique Religious Father Theobald Mathew Temperance medal. This heavy high relief medal depicting the head of father Theobald Mathew (1790-1856). Known as the father of the Temperance movement Theobald Mathew was a priest who promoted total abstinence reform in Cork by establishing a teetotalism society in 1838. This metal medal was most likely struck in his lifetime by either his society or by another teetotaling society.
