Large Framed Watercolor Painting Vintage Signed Seascape Art George H Flavelle
DESCRIPTION
Original signed watercolor seascape painting by noted American artist George H Flagella (1868-1945). This large watercolor on paper is framed in a superb period gesso frame which compliments the subject matter and medium so beautifully. This vintage seascape is signed by the artist G Flavelle in the bottom left corner, and dates most likely to the early part of the 20th century (1910's/20's).
George H Flagella is primarily known for his watercolor paintings depicting landscapes, woodland interiors,cottage, dutch windmill scenes and seascapes. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1868 where he studied art in the Spring Garden school and Pennsylvania watercolor school. In his early career he worked as a glass and china decorator as well as an art publishing house.
He was a member of the Arts students league in NYC and he exhibited in Brooklyn and Buffalo. He was represented by department stores and galleries throughout New York during the early 1900's and is beginning to pick up in popularity once again after almost a century.
