RL Antique Wooden Japanese Demon Oni Katabori Netsuke 1.75" Meiji Period Carving
Antique Japanese wooden seated demon Oni katabori netsuke. Exquisitely carved Japanese seated devil with horns dating to the Meiji period. This 19th century miniature is carved out of boxwood or cherry, being polished and lacquered to a high finish. He is grooming one of his horns and has a plate or mirror up to his chin. This was recently acquired from a renowned collection of small Asian bronze, wood and amber figurines in the Los Angeles area. I cannot see a signature on him anywhere.
A perfect addition to your Asian home decor or a fabulous gift idea for any Asian bronze collection.
This wooden Oni netsuke sculpture measures 1" deep by 1.25" wide by 1.75" tall and weighs 1.0oz.
This netsuke Oni sculpture is in good condition considering age and use - please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description.
