DESCRIPTION
Vintage 1940s clay sculpture of an essential worker. Sculpted by hand from terracotta clay this piece is an accomplished sculpture which depicts a medical person in a mask and scrubs. The pensive expression on the face and the delicate pose of the hands suggests a kind and nurturing person which is what you would want from a medical carer. The simplicity of the piece suggests a personal touch for the artist and the nature of it is more apt today in a pandemic mask wearing society than they will ever know. Signed and dated on the bottom this piece dates to the late 1940's.
