Vintage French Ceramic Match Holder Striker for Aux Lions de Faience Toothpicks
DESCRIPTION
Vintage French tobacciana ceramic advertising matchstrike / match holder. This classical counter top match holder would have graced a cafe or bar at the turn of the last century with free matches being provided for the patrons. It could be struck against the ridges on the side to ignite the match.
Marked throughout with advertising the cafe Aux Lions de Faience. The match holder serves as a menu and price list of sorts for table services like cabarets a liqueurs, terre de fer, etc for 20 and 40 francs.
This would make a great addition to any bar area or ceramic collection.
