Vintage Japanese Shakudo Meiji Era Letter Opener
Vintage Japanese Shakudo letter opener made from brass. Late Meiji period in date (1868 -1912) this beautifully ornate letter opener was crafted with great skill and detail. The handle is ornately decorated with a monkey intertwined in a tree reaching for fruit, a scene repeated on the reverse. The blade depicts bamboo or grass shoots on one side with a butterfly above foliage on the other.
This would make a fabulous birthday gift, housewarming gift holiday gift or for any Japanese metal enthusiasts.
Opener measures: 10.25" long by 1.5" wide and weighs 3.2oz.
