Vintage Large Signed H Hayden Oil Canvas Painting Red Painting Art Mother & Baby

  • $ 1,80000

DESCRIPTION

Stunning post apocalyptic style painting signed by H Hayden. Representing the despair of mankind and its bleak future, this is probably a 1940s piece. The paint is very heavily applied throughout the womans black cloak with the primary color in the background and through being red. The ashen grey of her face apparently represents the toil taken on by mother earth by the devastation of war. The reddish orange background indicates blood and fire which would be expected in the wake of a nuclear outbreak. The primitive looking child gazes directly from the canvas in frightened pose whilst attempting to cling to his mother for some support. Unfortunately she is preoccupied with the despair in the background and closes there eyes with an anguished look to her surroundings.

There is only one bright color in the foreground in the guise of the childs blanket which is blue and may signify water. Menacing in the background though the gibbet is looming and casting its shadow long towards the mother and child which dominate this post apocalyptic painting.

signed lower right: H Hayden

This would make a great wall hanging for any eclectic home or a great housewarming gift.
