DESCRIPTION
Heavy vintage bronze sculpture of a seated lady titled "Mujer En Banco" (Woman on Bank) by Mexican sculptor Carlos Aguirre (b.1948). A beautiful image of a robust lady sitting on a bank stretching her legs with her feet pointed upwards after a hard days work. The countenance on her face depicts a contentment, eagerness and confidence as she gazes upwards. Her hand on her hip intimates a confidence in her own self that is ready to engage anyone who approaches her. The hair up on a bun is like her smock dress, practical and elegantly stylish. This visual artist uses a unique take on expressionistic sculptures that captivate emotions, and human beings in their natural states amongst industrial impacts amongst indigenous rural communities through out Mexico.
As is common in his sculptures, the theme centers around rural Mexican women, in an array of natural positions, which captures the honest depiction of rural life.
