Vintage Signed Aquatint Etching by Kenneth J Reeve called Snow Patterns

  • $ 18000

DESCRIPTION

Vintage signed aquatint etching by Kenneth J Reeve (1910-2012). Vintage aquatint titled "Snow Patterns" this scene depicts a farmstead as it appears after a snowfall before anything has disturbed the freshly laid blanket. The white snow acts like a canvas for the shadows of the trees, fence and house to outline the patterns that can be seen in the first light. The contrast between the shades of gray and the stark white lends depth to the landscape. This aquatint dates to the 1950's.

Kenneth Reeves was born in 1910 and graduated from the Chicago Academy of Fine Art. In 1949 he moved to Brown county, Indiana which was the largest art colony in the midwest and began his life as a fine artist. Well known for his watercolors he began working with aquatint etching around 1955.
