DESCRIPTION

Vintage bold country style oil painting by Arline Michaelson(1913-2004). Depicting a farmstead rural landscape this color palette uses strong autumnal tones throughout. Bold blocks of color strike well against a light blue sky which make this an appealing image.

The trees have either shed their leaves or have turned golden brown for the fall which offsets the dull red of the barn and outhouse roof further back. The scene seems more indicative of the east coast where rich Fall seasons are distinct rather than that of California where the artist resided in the latter part of her life.

Arline B. Michaelson was born in Ohio in 1913. Michaelson spent most of her career in Great Neck New York before moving to Burbank, California.
