Collectible Will Rogers & Wiley Post Aviation Decor Collectible Table Lamp Sculpture

  • $ 65000

This vintage Will Rogers and Wiley Post table lamp sculpture is perfect for your aviation decor or collection. Complete with amber glass shade this commemorative table lamp is constructed of metal with the images of Will Rogers, Wiley Post and their ill fated WP X120 aircraft. Both men were killed in Barrow Alaska when they were attempting to fly through Alaska in search of new material for Rogers newspaper column.

This Will Rogers and Wiley Post lamp was manufactured as a memorial for two famous men that were loved throughout America. The disastrous flight happened near Point Barrow, Alaska, and claimed both lives. Will Rogers, (1879-1935) descended on the landscape as a man of wit and wisdom that proclaimed the need to laugh, which was sorely needed with the Great Depression raging. Wiley Post (1898-1935) was the first aviator to complete a successful solo flight around the world. The raised-relief figural lamp is cast-metal with a terrestrial-globe base, depicting both men and the down-fallen two-seater plane. The metal surface appears to be good and the glass-globe is original.

Lamp measures 16.5“ tall by 5.5“ wide (the glass shade is 4.5" wide)
Base measure 5.75" by 5.75"
Weight: 4lb 8oz

In good condition with some oxidation to the underneath of the base (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
