Western Art Native American Warrior Oil Painting
Vintage oil painting on canvas panel of a plains Indian warrior. I believe this painting represents Sitting Bull, holy man of the Hunkpapa Lakota. Dressed in traditional Indian blanket this side view of the chief in his old age displays a regal and serene pose. He wears the two eagle feathers in his hair to represent his strength, wisdom and power.
This was recently acquired at the estate of a gentleman who had worked in the studios in the 1930's/40's where it sat opposite a portrait of the Oglala Lakota chief Red Cloud although I believe that it was painted in the 1950's. This would make a great birthday or housewarming gift.
A great addition to your vintage oil painting collection or your Native American home decor.
