Antique English bronze UK Band of Hope union medal. This religious organization was established to promote alcohol abstinence in the 19th century. The enamel and bronze medal is suspended on a blue enamel WCTU ribbon. This particular award was awarded for a metropolitan council choir championship being, most likely the runners up medal. By promoting oral,musical, written and general educational events this encouraged not only education among the young but a deterrent towards alcohol as a recreational pastime.
